| Ok I get it Mon, 05 May 2008 11:44:50 -0800 Ok I get it I blew the forecast for Saturday! Our 6pm producer Carol McClain, spent 10 minutes berating me over going into the Columbia River Gorge Saturday & getting rained on. Then Frank, our chief web guru decided to pour salt into the wound. Frank took his brand new carbon fiber bicycle out for a spin around town. After a soaking wet ride Frank came home and spent Saturday evening cleaning the dirt and grit off his brand new carbon fiber bicycle. Oops! To all of you who got caught outside in the wet and cooler than forecasted weather on Saturday, take heart. I feel your pain. I to got caught in the middle of several rain squalls along the Clackamas River. I came home looking and feeling like a drowned rat. I went back to the forecast and tried to figure out where I went wrong. Regards Dave |
| .:Blood:. Tue, 06 May 2008 12:49:28 -0800 Blood. Such an important part of us. This story on the HH blood pilot program at the Red Cross was about two years in the making. Every time we tried to get it set up-- there was some hurdle, including:
But we finally got it done and tonite you get a small peek into this pilot program, This chapter of the Red Cross has collected 900 units of blood (basically 900 pints) from people with HH. And that's just here. When it rolls out nationwide, which should happen when all the Red Cross facilities are all on-line with their donor ID program, the donations will increase that much more. About 60% of the people who have HH qualify to donate under the guidelines. Here's a link to the Red Cross Blood Donor Program (for HH or otherwise): http://www.nwblood.redcross.org/ Here's a bit more on HH: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hemochromatosis/DS00455/DSECTION=1 And a link to the American Hemochromatosis Society: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hemochromatosis/DS00455/DSECTION=1 There you go!! McGorge Scott stopped by to leave me with these cool photos to share!!

| ..:Who Lives?! Who Dies?!:.. Mon, 05 May 2008 05:43:58 -0800 Welcome to Monday!! Here is that link on the full Associated Press writeup on the task force recommendations in case of a widespread pandemic flu or other sweeping illness. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hDeWu9n8WS9LtmwUnxMIucnFdnKQD90F8KKG0 What do you think??? Also, time to revisit birth order! How often do you hear that the middle child is a certain way... or the youngest is the "baby" of the family. Well, let's talk about first-borns. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24397323/ Two ways to interpret this story: #1) Parents are way hard on the firstborn.. #2) The fact that parents are hard on first-borns helps turn them into responsible adults. Hmmmmm.. :-) |
